The Thwomp is a gimmick found in the Super Mario Bros. series, starting with Super Mario Bros. 3. It is a living stone lined with spikes that attempts to crush anything that comes near it.

Thwomps are present in Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, in the Tier X stage Mario Land. In Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero, Thwomps make surprise returns in Kingdom Crisis and Code Landfill.

Behavior

Thwomps stay airborne, but will fall down whenever Mario/Zero gets close enough to them. While a Thwomp cannot crush him, they will deal damage to him. Once they land on solid ground, they slowly rise back up, and will ignore him until they return to their original position. A Thwomp will look down on the player if they're close enough to them, but not enough to trigger their descent. Thwomps are completely invincible, but (in Mario Land only) can be safely jumped on by using the Spin Jump.
